Ruby Rose Proves She Is Built For Fun In ‘Dark Matter’

Ruby Rose may be the hottest new star on Orange is the New Black, but that doesn’t mean Ms. Rose is content to let OITNB be her only claim to fame. Ruby has been stretching her acting legs and efforts to expand her acting portfolio has landed Ms. Rose a guest starring role on the Syfy channel’s Dark Matter.

루비로즈는 오렌지 이즈 더 뉴 블랙의 출연자 가운데 가장 매력적인 스타일지도 모른다. 하지만 루비 로즈가 그녀의 유명세를 보여주는 것이 이 드라마 밖에 있는 건 아니다. 루비는 그녀의 연기 경력을 늘려 syfy채널 dark matter에 게스트 스타로 그녀의 포트폴리오를 채웠다.

엔터테인먼트 위클리에 따르면 루비로즈가 맡게되는 역할은 아래와 같다.

“Rose will play Wendy, an entertainment android who was designed and built for fun. After she comes to life, she charms the ship’s crew with both her ability to cook and her sexual prowess — but something will go wrong. Very, very wrong.”

"로즈는 웬디 역할을 합니다. '즐거움'을 주기 위해 반들어진 엔터테인먼트 안드로이드이며 그녀가 생명을 얻은 후, 우주선의 선원들에게 요리실력과 섹슈얼한 기량으로 그들을 사로잡습니다. 하지만 이후 뭔가가 잘못되기 시작할 겁니다. 정말 잘못될겁니다.

Twenty-nine-year-old Ruby Rose launched her career in the entertainment industry as a veejay for Australian MTV, but a move to the United States has helped Ruby to focus her attention on her first love of acting. Although Ms. Rose had always intended to pursue an acting career, Ruby admits she never expected to land such a promising role as Orange is the New Black‘s Stella Carlin so soon after relocating.

29살의 루비로즈는 호주 MTV에서 VJ로서 엔터테인먼트 사업에 들어온 이후 미국으로 옮겨와 배우 경력을 쌓고자 노력했다. 그녀는 항상 배우로 일하기를 바랬지만 오렌지 이즈 더 뉴 블랙의 '스텔라 칼린'과 같은 역할을 맡을 수 있을 거라고 생각하지도 못했다고 밝혔다.

“My first big job is maybe, arguably, one of the biggest television shows around at the moment with some of the best actors of our time,” Ruby said.

"오렌지 이즈 더 뉴 블랙은 지금 동시대를 살고 있는 최고의 배우들이 출현하는 몇 안되는 TV SHOW라고 생각합니다"

Even so, Ms. Rose revealed that the big move proved more difficult than she’d anticipated. TheDaily Mail reports that Ruby found that obtaining an agent was far more challenging than she had been expecting.

“I couldn’t get an agent, couldn’t get a manager, couldn’t get an audition,”Ms. Rose said in the interview. “I couldn’t get anything.”

루비로즈는 에이전트를 얻는 것이 그녀가 생각했던 것 이상으로 어려웠던 일이라고 밝혔다.

"에이전트를 얻을 수도 없었고, 매니저도 없었어요 심지어 오디션도 따지 못했죠"

The offer that would change Ruby’s luck for the better came unexpectedly, the Orange is the New Black actress said.

“I just got an email…. saying to do a self tape for the character of Stella and I self taped and I sent it in and I thought ‘Id never hear anything ever again,'” Ruby explained.

"이메일을 받았습니다. 스텔라 역에 대한 셀프 테이프를 보내달라는 내용이었고, 그리고 녹화해서 보내드렸죠. 그리고는 속으로 '절대 대답을 받을 수 없을거야'라고 생각했습니다"

Ms. Rose did hear back though, and Ruby describes the entire hiring process as a surreal experience, much like a living dream.

“I got a call within a couple of days and I flew to New York and filmed. It was just a weird, seamless process. It was freakishly weird.”

Ruby Rose will appear on Syfy’s Dark Matter on July 24. The new Orange is the New Black season will premiere in June 2016 on Netflix.

Just like your heart, Ruby Rose is about to make the clubs start thumpin’.

Because in addition to being the scene-stealing new star of “Orange is the New Black” Season 3, she’s also an experienced electronic dance music DJ who just landed a clutch new management deal with Connected Artists.

As reported by Your EDM, Rose was added to the list of bookable artists at Connected Artists by Avicii manager Ash Pournouri so she can start making the club scene rounds — more often, that is.

Rose has actually been DJing for years now, most recently at NY nightclub Pacha, where someone was actually so enamored with her spinning skills — and/or the fact that she’s a FORCE all around — that they threw a pair of panties her way during the show. Which is an obvious homage to, um, certain events from her season on “OITNB.” (They were even pink!)

Apparently, this is a semi-regular — actually, “every time” — thing now.

Q : 실제 본인의 미싱실력은?

A : 완전 못한다. 처음 미싱을 해봤다. 그 신을 찍는 다고 했을 때.. 핸드싱크로 하면 안될까 ? 생각했지만 아시다 시피 내 손에 많은 타투들이 있기 때문에 그건 힘들었다. 사실 감독들이 내 손을 좋아하기도 했고 결국 내 스스로 배우는 수 밖에 없었다. 미싱 보다는 진짜 그냥 내 손을 어떻게 하면 미싱 안할까에 가까웠다. 제일 재미잇었던 건 드라마의 많은 장면들 중에서, 예를 들어 윙크하는 장면이라든지, 샤워실에 있는 장면이라든지 그 중에서 내 약혼녀가 나에게 보낸 건 미싱하고 있는 장면이었다. 그녀는 눈에 하트가 있는 이모티콘을 보내면서 "대박이야 자기야" 라고 했는데. 뭐? 많고 많은 장면중에 그게 제일 인상깊었다고? 생각했다. 사실 그녀가 패션디자이너라서 이해는 간다.

Q: 내가 듣기론 키스신 보다 미싱하던 신이 더 떨렸다고 했다는데?

A : 당연하다. 내 인생에서 키스를 하거나 애정행각을 했던 적은 있었지만 한번도 미싱을 한 적은  없기 때문이다 ㅋㅋ 그리고 앞으로도 안 할 거고

Q : 되게 재밌는 사실을 찾았다. 2012년에 lucky one 이라는 영화로 테일러 쉴링 (오렌지 이즈 더 뉴 블랙 파이퍼 채프먼 역)과 사실 인터뷰를 한 적이 있다. 알고있나?

A : 테일러 쉴링가 만난 후, 서로에 대해서 말하던 중에 그녀가 '난 lucky one이라는 영화를 했었다' 라고 말했다. 그때 진짜? 잭 에프론이랑? 나 그 인터뷰 한 적 있는 것 같은데.. 라고 말했고 그녀는 절대, 만약 그랬으면 내가 알아봤을 텐데 하고 믿지 않았다. 바로 우리는 구글로 찾아봤고 그 인터뷰를 봤다. ㅋㅋ 그리고는 서로 진짜 이상하다고 말했다.

Q : 오렌지 이즈 더 뉴 블랙 시즌 4에 나오는 지 말해달라

A : 지금 상황으로 보면 둘 다 가능성이 있다. 하지만 모두 알겠지만 오뉴블은 뉴욕에서 촬영을 하고 난 la에 있으니 ... ?

Q : break free라는 유동적 성정체성에 대한 비디오로 유명해졌는데, 사실 이 개념에 대해서는 이해하기가 조금 어렵다 그런 사람들에게 설명해준다면?

A : 내 생각엔, 이건 매우 이해하기 힘든 개념이 맞긴 하다. 이걸 어떻게 설명하는 것 자체는 어렵다. 하지만 내가 그 영상을 찍게 된 계기를 말하라고 한다면 난 긴 금발로 태어났지만, 아 물론 태어날 때는 모든 사람처럼 아기지만 ㅋㅋㅋ 긴 금발로 바로 태어나지는 않았지만, 긴 금발에 파란 눈에 드레스를 입고 했었다 사람들이 모두 원하는 것 처럼. 이런 모습이 이상하게 보이지는 않았지만 나에게는 맞다고 생각하지 않았다. 난 남자애들과 놀면서 축구하고 바비 보다는 닌자터틀을 가지고 노는 것이 더 즐거웠고 이럴 때 내 모습에 더 자신감이 있었다. 난 남자는 아니고 분명히 수술을 받을 건 아니다. 하지만 난 그 범위 어딘가에 있다고 생각한다. 오늘만 봐도 난 드레스에 힐을 신고 있다.
