The Fashion Bloggers’ Guide to London: The Best Gastropubs, Wi-Fi Hotspots, and More

Ahead of London Fashion Week, London’s top fashion bloggers gave Vogue.com the secret spots where they’ll be hanging out between shows. Because there’s more to London than the Chiltern Firehouse, you know. . .

I’ve heard that the secret to getting over jet lag is to have a massage within two hours of landing—so I’ve booked one for when I get back from New York before the London shows start. The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park has the dreamiest massages. For food, the new Ham Yard Hotel, above, will be popular this season—the menu is simple and delicious, and if you sweet-talk the host, they’ll let you up to the beautiful terrace. Later on I’ll head to the basement of the Moral Fox at the Globe in Notting Hill. It’s always filled with models and creative types, and the reggae music is great.

I don’t tend to go to fashion places. For daytime hanging out, with Wi-Fi of course, I like members bars Blacks and Forge & Co, pictured. To eat, it’s all about gastropubs—in particular, the Bull & Last near Hampstead Heath and the Smokehouse in Islington. As for bars, I like the Nightjar off Old Street, which has a speakeasy/Prohibition feel.

Fashion Week isn’t Fashion Week without a visit to Dover Street Market. The Rose Bakery on the top floor is perfect for watching all the international buyers, editors, and peacocks of note. And they serve the best kind of healthy comfort food. Fernandez & Wells at Somerset House is handy for meeting colleagues during Fashion Week, while the new one at Duke Street Emporium in Mayfair is handy for getting away from them if I need a quiet moment to blog or file copy.

Ella Catliff, La Petite Anglaise
I often escape Somerset House to Soho House, above, to work, eat, drink, or just relax. Usually half of the Fashion Week crowd has the same idea, so it ends up being useless for working, but a lot of fun. If I’m really in need of peace and quiet, the Brown’s Hotel is my favorite spot for late-night cocktails and dancing.

For the best Italian food ever and lobster spaghetti, I’ll head to Locanda Locatelli. My mouth is watering at the thought! Studio 338 in Greenwich, pictured, is great for good old dancing, if you like techno, that is. They have the best speakers, and you can see the sky as the roof is completely see-through. Finally, I love Charlton Lido—it’s an open swimming pool that’s heated all year and absolutely massive! I love a dip to relax post the shows.

When the stress of Fashion Week is getting me down, I go to the Good Life Eatery for a health kick. Everything you get from there is wholesome as well as tasty. By night, the chic and close-by bar at the Savoy, above, is a calm in the fashion storm. Order some nibbles and drown your Fashion Week dramas. And to celebrate the end of LFW, I’ll head to Shake Shack in Covent Garden and have the cheese fries and classic ShackBurger.
